HussleRadio! - Golden Curtains (Episode 3)

This week's episode of HussleRadio! narrows in on Pulmonary Embolism the reported condition, medical experts believe the Late Goldie may have suffered from before she passed on. Goldie,a recording/performing artiste and Alumnus of Celebrity Big Brother Africa had just returned from a trip to the US, where she reportedly attended the Grammy's.

Goldie & Chaka Khan, Ciara & Goldie
She had complained about a headache and was rushed to the hospital where she was pronounced dead on arrival.

The Medical experts posited that she had suffered from Pulmonary Embolism, a blood clot which affects the lungs and could lead to death. It's also related to Deep Vein Thrombosis known as "Economy Class Syndrome" which is believed to be a major cause of concern for frequent air travelers.

Recently current women's tennis number 1,  Serena Williams, underwent surgery to deal with Pulmonary Embolism.

You'll hear reactions from some fans, my perception of the late singer, predictions following her demise, her recent big hits and basic preventive information regarding Pulmonary Embolism and its close cousin Deep Vein Thrombosis.

It's HussleRadio baby, where we work hard and play hard!

HAPPY VALENTINE'S DAY!?! Not so sure anymore...

Once, someone told me a story about spending a valentine's day exhausting packs of condoms!
I've seen obscene cakes & gifts and I've been told it's all love!

One day, different meanings. And most who celebrate it exhibit the most ignorance.

I did some research and came up with these findings I thought to share,as the World celebrates this "non holiday"!

Re: World Radio Day!

Digital Radio on agenda for World Radio Day

Today sees the Digital Radio Conference taking place in Geneva, with speakers from around Europe talk about the latest technology.
Hundreds of delegates are gathering at the European Broadcasting Union’s HQ in Switzerland, as part of Radio Week 2013.
The Digital Radio Summit will open with a look at recent EBU initiatives around radio, including a keynote address from Media Director Annika Nyberg Frankenhaeuser on the Euro-chip campaign.
EBU’s Head of Radio Christian Vogg will focus on the topic of radio apps, an area of growing interest for the industry.
As usual the Summit will feature updates from the associations: WorldDMB, Digital Radio Mondiale, RadioDNS and the Internet Media Device Alliance. A panel discussion featuring all four associations will ask what are the biggest threats and opportunities ahead for the industry.
During the afternoon attention will turn to use cases, including an insight into analogue switch-off plans for FM in Norway, the experiences of NPO of implementing RadioDNS in the Netherlands, and an update from the UK-based initiative Radioplayer.
The closing session, on future developments, will look at digital radio on the move, both in cars and on mobile phones, along with an examination of where the AM bands are headed in Europe.

#Dear Presenter...

Below are a few scripted quips from the Broadkast Hussle Media Solutions Page during moments of "self righteousness" brought upon by functional inactivity!

Enjoy!!!

WELCOME BACK?

Recently, I had bawled at the actions of my on-air comrades regarding the salutation "welcome back" after a break. However, the better side of me sought the expertise of a respected and much sought after Broadcaster still in active service and whose celebrated birthday I was a privileged guest of... Citizen Jones Usen.
Lauretta Chiogor had put up a spirited debate on facebook which spilled over when we hung out later on. I still wasn't convinced until I spoke to Jones. And he said, that the presenter/caster who takes a break KNOWS that the communication link is broken for the duration of the break and owes it to the listener/viewer, to guide or return attention to the broadcast, thus "welcome back from..." However, he admits that the circumstance is still debatable and is open to suggestions. In addition, another vet, Georgecurtis Nkemakolam, says it's a matter of house style as some 'casters don't even salute.

The previous post...

When a Presenter/Newscaster says to me,
"We'll be right back..."
or any of its variations before a break, isn't it proper to announce
afterwards ...
"thanks for staying with us/and we're back...."
or any other appropriate phrase rather than,
"welcome back"?
... I wasn't the one who left to take the break!

PHONE-IN SEGMENT ABUSE

Mmmh.
Only a revered vet would know this...

"The phone-in show is the laziest approach to broadcast programming I've ever seen. Nigerian radio and even television stations have taken the silly fad to new levels - devoting entire hour upon hour to listener views and opinions on the most mundane of issues. It's even gotten worse with the addition of Twitter and Facebook garbage!"
- Femi Sowoolu.

... and just before they reel out the numbers to call, they ask you "what's your take...?"
No wonder I didn't "fit in" anymore.

TRADITIONAL Vs. CUSTOMARY

Dear Media, the outfit may be "traditional" but the event or occassion is "customary", referring to the wedding. it is therefore called a "customary wedding/marriage" as opposed to a "traditional wedding/marriage".

SOME FEW... NOT

As we proceed, we shall learn that "some few" have no business being beside each other, it is either "some" or "a few"... one or the other. Just as well, "at about" causes a bit of a conflict, why don't we settle for "around" instead? For example, "there were reports of gunshots around 2am" . Having fun are we not?

TAIL END... NOT

No longer shall it be at the "tail end" but at "the end" or at "the tail". Neither shall "please kindly" matter, for "please" or "kindly" shall be ample enough!

Deejays Don't Kill People, Random Variables Do!

Remember the unfortunate story of the nurse who committed suicide after putting the prank call from two Australian deejays through to Kate Middleton's attending nurse? Word has just come that the Crown Prosecution Service will not press manslaughter charges against them. I was stunned to even read that charges were even being considered. Life is a crap shoot and sometimes bad things happen even when there is no bad intention... via:

Deejay Suspended for Mocking Caller with Down Syndrome

Another day, another radio host suspended. This time it's "Mo" from Q92 (WDJQ) in Canton, Ohio. Mo took a phone call from a woman with Down Syndrome. Kellie Baker says she mistakenly called the deejay. But, he jumped on her disability and poked fun at her.
Mo has since apologized on the air. The station issued a statement saying in part: "Q92 is participating in...an on-going awareness campaign to focus on the abilities, strengths, and talents of people who are developmentally disabled."
